Information Needed for an Online Company Formation
The following information is required for all company formations as part of the registration process under the Companies Act 2006.
- A Unique name for your company
- See BTC Guidance on Company Names
- A Registered Office address in the country of registration, e.g. London or Cardiff for English and Welsh registry and Glasgow for the Scottish Registry.
- BTC Registered Office Services are available for a small annual fee.
- For all the officers & shareholders of the company you will need:-
- Their full name
- Directors only - Their previous names they have used in the past 20 years including a maiden name (from 1 October 2009), a second or subsequent marriage name or a change by deed poll.
- Their usual residential address for the company registers and for the Registrar, these are not available for public view.
- For Directors' their Service address for the public registers (From 1 October 2009). BTC Service Address facilities are available for a small annual fee.
- Their Date of Birth
- Their Nationality
- Their Occupation
- For authentication of all the officers & shareholders of the company you need some personal information which forms your 'electronic signature' and provides the basis for security questions about you for the Companies House systems if the occassion ever arises, helping to protect you and your company and reducing the risk of fraud. (These are not available for public view) Please provide just any three of the following:-
- First 3 letters of Town of birth
e.g. LON for London
- First 3 letters Mothers maiden name
e.g. JON for Jones
- First 3 Letters Eye colour e.g. BLU for Blue
- First 3 letters of fathers forename e.g. DAV for David
- Last 3 numbers of telephone number e.g. 090 for 0161 796 6090
- Last 3 digits of National insurance No. e.g. 65D
- Last 3 digits of passport number e.g. 456
NB: However, details of other directorships held currently or previously are no longer required to be disclosed as part of the incorporation process, as from 1 October 2009, since the registers of directors and secretaries are electronic and cross reference by name, date of birth and address at the registry automatically.
