Registered Office Facility

All UK limited companies are legally required to have a registered UK address. It is the address of a company to which Companies House letters and reminders will be sent, and where the statutory registers of the company should be kept for inspection. The registered company address can be anywhere in England and Wales (or Scotland if your company is registered there).  It must be a real address, but it doesn't have to be the place where you do business. For example, some companies use their accountants for company secretarial services, and the accountants' address as their registered office. PO Box numbers alone are not acceptable.

You must be able to deal promptly with any mail sent there. Companies House will write to you at your registered office. Someone you owe money to might send a legal demand for payment to that address. If you don't reply quickly, they might push your company into insolvency.  HMRC or Inland Revenue especially, do have these powers.

By law, the name of your company must be shown outside the registered office. If a company changes its registered UK office address after incorporation, the new address must be notified to Companies House on a form 287, which can now be web-filed directly from our online company formation system once your company details are on our system.

Our Registered Office facility is particularly useful for smaller companies, such as those being run by a sole director from home, where a separate address for service of routine paperwork from authorities such as Companies House and the Inland Revenue may be required for various reasons. The facility is intended solely as an address for service of routine mail only and must not be used as a trading address or for collection and forwarding of general mail. Your stationery must not indicate this to be so. The registered address must be included on your business stationery but please do not display our telephone number.

The cost for this service is £59.00+vat per annum (handling and mail forwarding on an item by item charge)
