Limited Company Formation: which type of UK company?

Deciding which type of company you want to create is one of the most important decisions you will make when starting a new business. It’s important to understand how best to structure your company, as your status can have both legal and practical implications.  Changing the type of company might be possible in certain situations, whereas in others, it would not be an option.  Whilst it is possible, for instance, to change a private company limited by shares to a PLC, it is not permissible to change the fundamentals of the incorporation and migrate it to a limited by guarantee entity.

Most people require a standard limited company (private company limited by shares), which is suitable for nearly all types of trading. However, if you are looking to form an association or simply need a specialist company we can still help your company registration.  Apart from the standard limited company, we also do all other types of companies:  Limited by Guarantee, Limited Liability Partnership, Right to Manage (RTM) and Community Interest Company (CIC).

Registering a company of any kind will carry with it, its own set of business regulations which have to be adhered to. Some of the requirements are more stringent and potentially onerous than others, particularly those for public limited companies.

You should consider your capacity to both manage and fund whichever kind of entity you select and might wish to plan a migration route to another kind of company based on their future ambitions and plans

For any other types of entity please contact our support team on 0800 045 4127
